May is such a wonderful month! It is a month of flowers and great weather as well as a
month of great celebrations. In the Scottish Rite Valley of San Diego, we have many
activities scheduled for May.
Our Stated Meeting on May 1 st was a wonderful event where we honored the York Rite
Bodies in San Diego County. Our guest speaker was our very own Honorable Michael
T. Sherman, KCCH, who is the Most Illustrious Grand Master of Cryptic Masons in
California. Since a lot of our Scottish Rite members are also York Rite members, the
event was well attended. It was a fun evening for all.
On Friday, May 17 th , we will host our annual Honored Ladies’ Luncheon. It is that time when we celebrate the ladies of our members who are no longer with us. We will have a light lunch and some entertainment for them. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our Mother’s Day Brunch this year because of some logistical issues. Hopefully, we can bring that event back next year when we are better prepared. However, don’t forget to celebrate your Mom on her special day.
Another especially important event is happening at the end of May. We will have our Spring Class Reunion on May 24-25, 2024. This two-day event will hopefully bring in a lot of members into our Valley. If you know of any Master Mason who is not yet a Scottish Rite member, encourage them to join the “university of freemasonry” to get more masonic light. It is not too late to bring in their applications. The application form is available here. Please make reservations for dinner on Friday the 24th, breakfast and lunch on Saturday the 25th.

The Scottish Rite Center
Enjoy some photos of the Scottish Rite Center as it came to life over years of planning and construction. We will add more as each room is furnished and begins to fulfill its purpose.
We expect this building to serve the San Diego Masonic community for a very long time.
Philippine Independence Day June 1, 2024
The Scottish Rite Valley of San Diego invites you to join us at the 2024 Philippine Independence Day celebration. This year we honor Antonio Luna, a scientist, swordsman, sharpshooter, writer, director of war, and more. He was considered to be the most skilled General during the Philippine-American War before his assassination on June 5, 1899 at the age of 32.
Our annual Philippine Independence Day is always a well-attended event with Filipino food, entertainment, and a silent auction. All donations directly benefit the RiteCare Childhood Language Center of San Diego.
The event starts at 6pm at the Scottish Rite Center in Mission Valley. The silent auction will be open at 5:30. Payment methods are cash, credit card, or checks payable to CASRF.

Scholarship Opportunity
Each year the Valley of San Diego Community Foundation grants scholarships to deserving high school graduates. These are renewable each year for four years if the student maintains a required GPA. These scholarships can help pay tuition, room and board, purchase books and supplies, or other necessities for the struggling college student.
Deadline for applications is May 31, 2024. The application must include a transscript, recommendation letters, and personal essay. Applicants will also be invited to attend an interview.
